Village Super Market (VSM) is a new marketplace concept for the resource poor farmers that is offering direct trading and supply of safe and nutritious food to the growing consumers. VSM integrates the dimensions of food trading, storage, processing and marketing through smart market processes. With support from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Solidaridad developed two VSMs in South West Bangladesh, which has become the pride for the farmers to sell their produce at a decent market price, equipped with modern technologies and facilities and ensures fair prices and product traceability. This market is a unique combination of modern and creative architecture that is adding value to agriculture productivity and promoting effective business to business linkages among producers and the buyers.
By facilitating trade and market access for agriculture products it is contributing to improve quality standards, improve market transparency and ultimately raise income for farmers.
