Sunday Morning Preaching The Christian Era
(a kingdom which cannot be moved)
Text: Heb. 12:28
Objective/purpose:
For people to realize that this period which is unique through history, with all the positive in it, was brought about by the first coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Intro:
1. Promised - 2 Sam. 7 / 1Chron 17:14, 22:10, 28:7 - promise to David kingdom forever 2. Permanent - confirmed - not end, 1Kings 9:5 - confirmed to Solomon
Psalms 45:6, Heb. 1:8 - the Son is also God. His rule will not end - "throne forever"
Isaiah 9:6-7 - confirms that the prophesied Christ will rule forever
Rev. 11:15-culmination-even the other kingdoms - temporary, worldly - will be His
3. Proclaimed - 2Chron. 13:5 - Abijah - they know of the promise
4. Prophesied - Dan. 2:44 - prophesy of The Christ
*Luke 1:33 - the prophecy is fulfilled in Jesus
5. Paradisal - heavenly
Mat. 5:19 - the kingdom is in heaven
Matthew 13:52, Matthew 18:4, 2Timothy 4:18
Hebrews 12:28 - kingdom - can not be moved
2Peter 1:11 - everlasting kingdom
What can and must we do to bring this about on earth.
1. be holy - v. 1,14 - lay aside things that prevent us to be effective in the ministry
2. look to Jesus - v. 2-3 - remember what He did and what it is for
3. don't be soft in dealing with trials and temptations, endure hardness - v. 4, 7
4. take correction positively - vv. 4-11
5. help others do the same - v. 12
6. make preparations, plan and execute well - v. 13
7. watch out for those in the contrary - vv. 16-17
8. hear what the Lord has to say - don't refuse Him - vv 25-29
Message/Conclusion:
If the first coming of the Lord Jesus has brought about such an impact, how much more His second coming. Let us trust Him even as we wait for His coming again and do everything help bring about the same blessings.
Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
