We all change with age. Others worse. Here are a few of those not-so-fortunate celebrities.
Mickey Rourke
Rourke was once a heart-throb to millions of young women. He turned to professional boxing following his acting career drying up. He scored 4 wins in 6 bouts, but he also suffered a broken nose and cheekbone, among other injuries, that surgery was not able to fully repair to his pre-boxing days.
Val Kilmer
Kilmer was one of the best know actors of the 1980s and 1990s starring in films from Heat, Tombstone and Batman, but he’s probably best know for his role as Ice in Top Gun. As his good looks faded so did his acting career.
John Travolta
Travolta is a rarity among actors - blessed to have both good looks and a long and prosperous acting career with multiple reinventions. But like many aging men, his most famous feature, his hair, departed with the sands of time. In 2018 Travolta finally ditched his toupee and started rocking the chrome dome look.
Geena Davis
that while her Thelma & Louise co-star Susan Sarandon “has continued to age like a fine wine, Davis resembles something akin to a bottle of Merlot that’s been given a heavy dose of anti-freeze.”
Melanie Griffith
Griffith is another on a long list of actresses who have had unfortunate encounters with bad plastic surgery. Formerly the darling of screen having starred in Working Girl and The Bonfire of the Vanities, she attempted one too many times to turn back the clock by resorting to plastic surgery but with disastrous results.
"I didn't [realize how much her face had changed] until people started saying, 'Oh my god, what has she done?!' I was so hurt," she told Net-a-Porter's Porter magazine. "I went to a different doctor, and he started dissolving all of this s--t that this other woman doctor had put in."
Kathleen Turner
Turner was famous for her good looks and was a major draw in films such as The Jewel of the Nile and Romancing the Stone. However, she also faced debilitating arthritis and the medication she took to alleviate its affects caused major changes in her appearance including weight gain and bloating. Her film career disappeared, but she was able to reinvent herself as a successful stage actress.
Renee Zellweger
I will let the graphic of this Brigett Jone’s Diary actress speak for itself.
Steven Seagal
Seagal was one of the biggest action heroes on film in the 1990s with films such as Under Siege and Hard to Kill. As interest in his films began to wane he let his formidable physique go to waste and pile on the pounds. It’s questionable now that this former martial arts expert would even be able to lift his leg to do a kick.
Brendan Fraser
Fraser was know for his boyish good looks and was able to use that for a fairly lucrative caree in films such as George of the Jungle (photo) and The Mummy series. However, he was involved in a messy divorce and alimony situation as well as several behind the screen incidents that took a toll on him both emotionally and physically that aged him dramatically.
Mark Hamill
Hamill is another actor that was famous for his boyish looks, especially in the Star Wars films. His looks quickly changed, however, and his presence on screen was minimized. He has had a long career, however, as a voice actor. Interestingly, it has been rumored that Hamill required minimal makeup for his role as the grizzled, elder Luke Skywalker in the latest Star Wars trilogy.
