Iranian women have been forbidden from attending men’s games in the country since the 1979 Revolution, although there have been some exceptions.
Iran are set to face Cambodia in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers and FIFA, football’s governing body, says it has received assurances that women will be allowed inside the 90,000 capacity stadium.
In November 2018, women were allowed to attend the second leg of the Asian Champions League final but no matches have been open since.
The Tehran Times reported on October 4 that the 3,500 ticket allocation for women sold out in under an hour.
