Every third child in the world below the age of 10 is poor

October 17 is marked as United Nation's International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. The theme for 2019: ‘Acting Together to Empower Children, their Families and Communities to End Poverty’.

This year also marks the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
Even today every third child in the world below the age of 10 is poor says the Multidimensional Poverty Index of the United Nation Development Programme.
If one categorises those below the age of 18, every second child is poor.
About 34% of the world’s children covered under MPI survey are multidimensionally poor.
Which means they lack 3 important facets of a decent life: health; education; standard of living.

About 85% of the multidimensionally poor live in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Sustainable Development Goal No.1 strives to eliminate poverty in all its forms. The world has a tough challenge ahead: How to fix poverty among children?
