I had gotten word that a BNSF SD70MAC still in the executive paint was leading a train on the Illinois Railway La Salle branch from the BNSF Mendota sub in Zearing towards Ladd and Peru. The BNSF power is brought in mainly to serve the sand facility on the north end of Peru, IL for unit sand trains though they are used for switching as well. The line is slated for new rails and ties in the next year or so. Illinois Railway job 105 led by BNSF 9659 (ex-BN executive paint SD70MAC built 9/1995), 6670 (ES44C4 built 2011), and 7036 (ES44C4 built 2012), passes east through rural Bureau County between Zearing and Ladd, IL.
