How to fit in training for a 100 mile ultra with an 80hr week (Montane Spine Challenger podium-er!)

How to fit in training for a 100 mile ultra with an 80hr week (Montane Spine Challenger podium-er!) The Montane Spine Challenger is a 108 mile ultra race across the Pennines, the little sibling of the Spine Race, the 268 mile non-stop ultra along the entire Pennine Way. In 2018 and 2019, Jen Scotney came 3rd lady, fitting in her training around an 80 hour working week as a human rights lawyer.

In this film, Jen reveals how she managed to train despite such an intensive job, how she stayed motivated, what she ate, and how it felt to come third lady. The interview is followed by a short film of her 2018 race experience.

I'm sorry about the sound, the mics cannot have been working properly on this one. I've tried to take out much of the wind noise and I think it's bearable, ahh the joys of technology on a windswept mountainside!

This was filmed in 2018 and Jen has just moved jobs this summer (2019) and now works as the PR and content manager for Rab the outdoor brand - check out a future issue of Trail Running magazine to see how much more running she can fit in these days!
