The National Democratic Alliance government has decided to work towards stopping the flow of water, in excess of the Indus Treaty, from flowing into Pakistan. Jal Shakti minister, Gajendra Shekhawat, said that studies have been commissioned to find out how the water can be diverted so it can be used by farmers, industries and electricity generators in India. During his previous term, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had made a call to stop flow of excess water to Pakistan. PM Modi had said that the water is wasted since it is used by neither India, nor Pakistan and flows into the sea.
