How does one recover when their entire business activity is done on Amazon and Amazon decides to suspend the business account? It is a question that I do not have an answer to yet. My Amazon suspension had catastrophic effects and might even force me to give up on my small business.
At first, when I saw the email notification stating that my Amazon account was suspended for violating Seller Policy, I thought it was a phishing email. Reality hit me straight in the face when I tried to access my account. It was suspended for violating the Amazon Seller Policy but which one of their rules? The email does not give any details and feels quite impersonal. It is basically a generic email that could be sent to pretty much anyone that did anything that is against the Amazon rules and guidelines. This made it extremely difficult for me to find out why I was suspended. Without knowing what I did wrong, it is difficult to prevent it from happening again in the future. The appeal system did not help that much. No additional information was provided and the appeal was rejected in less than 48 hours since I raised the request.
Some might jump out and say you should just create a new account and start all over again but it is not that simple. My original account had hundreds of reviews and very few customer complaints. I had a good reputation and that helped drive product sales. It is difficult to recover from something like this and even the creation of a new account is prohibited. If Amazon finds out I created a new account after being suspended, it will suspend the new one as well. There will always be the risk of getting another Amazon suspension and that is just not worth the time and effort. Getting my original account back is the only way to stay in business.
