In connection with the incessant rain and possible flash flood and other natural calamities associated with it, the East Siang District Administration has already issued a directive to all the citizen of East Siang, especially the people settling in and around the Siang river near PI Line, Jarku, Jarkong, 2 Mile, Berung, Jampani and low lying/ downstream villages under Mebo Sub-Division. The District Administration has also asked all its linked and concern department to remain in alert to tackle with any untoward incidents out of possible natural calamities.Talking at the sideline of possible flash flood in Siang River, Additional Dy. Commissioner, (HQ), Pasighat, Shri Tatdo Borang said that, the flow of the river and its level has not crossed its danger level. “However, we have already alerted our officers and department concern and have also selected some evacuation sites in case of any emergency situation. At the same time, we are requesting all the general public not to collect any driftwood from the Siang river bank which works as a natural protection of erosion at times. We have seen people defying orders and directives, but we appeal our conscious citizen to discourage such practice of collecting driftwood”, added Borang.
