Deserted Wuhan streets amid coronavirus outbreak The Chinese city of #Wuhan, a city of 11 million and the epicenter of the #coronavirus outbreak, appeared deserted on Wednesday, with cafes, restaurants and shops closed and streets empty.
Police checkpoints were set up on the main avenues and at the entrances of tunnels and on bridges, while a small number of cars could be spotted.
The city entered into a state of lockdown on January 23, with public transportation suspended, highways blocked, and flights and trains leaving the city cancelled.
As of Wednesday, the death toll of the coronavirus outbreak reached 493, with more than 24,000 people infected in China alone and 24,536 worldwide.
