Two years ago in 2018, Philippe Coutinho finally made his much anticipated move from Liverpool to Barcelona for a record €160m fee. At the time, the ESPN FC panel of Steve Nicol, Alejandro Moreno, Shaka Hislop and Gab Marcotti gushed over the impact Coutinho would have playing with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez while insinuating this would be a step back for Liverpool. In reality, Liverpool went on to become the best team in Europe while Coutinho was forced to accept a move to Bayern Munich in order to resurrect his career.
