Tyler's BIGGEST Wisconsin Musky! | Taking a Chance on a BIG Muskie Spot S3.E14

Tyler's BIGGEST Wisconsin Musky! | Taking a Chance on a BIG Muskie Spot S3.E14 It’s been a couple of hours into your fishing trip and you haven’t seen a musky follow yet. This is a pretty typical start to most muskie fishing days and usually results in a change in your game plan. But let’s say these changes you make result in NO action! So you keep pounding the water!!! You try everything! Now its 8, 9, 10 hours into your trip and you still haven’t seen a fish!

Although tough could be an understatement at this point, this situation happens to even the most experienced musky anglers more often than they would like to admit. But one thing the best musky hunters know is that, when this situation arises, it is time to dig in! Because that one strike is likely to come just before dark!

This was exactly what happened to Tyler Andrews and I during a July musky hunt. We had pounded the water all day, diversifying the types of structures we were hitting and still, we saw zero musky movement.

Although my mind was spinning with ideas as to how we could trigger a strike, I knew we had a very special time period coming up at last light! As the sun was setting there was another “minor” change taking place in the skies above that greatly influences musky feeding behavior: moon set.

And together (SS and MS), these two solunar phases can combine to create a very special window of opportunity under normal environmental conditions. Knowing this I decided to hit a new big fish spot and when Tyler set the hooks, I knew we had something special on the other end!
