"The Abandoned: A Life Apart from Life"
Poet and Author of "The Abandoned: A Life Apart from Life" Evelyn Ripp was born in Lachva, Poland (now Belarus). She was confined to the Lachva Ghetto and escaped during the uprising on September 3, 1942. as did her father and little sister. Then hid in the forest for two years at the side of the Russian partisans, until the liberation by the Soviet army in July, 1944. They ended up in a displaced persons camp in Germany. She came to the United States in 1946.
