Kilvenmani Massacre: What Suppression of Workers’ Rights 51 Years Ago Means Today

Kilvenmani Massacre: What Suppression of Workers’ Rights 51 Years Ago Means Today Exactly 51 years ago - December 25, 1968 - the Kilvenmani massacre took place in the state of Tamil Nadu. 44 people belonging to dalit families in the Kilvenmani village were brutally killed by the landlords for demanding the minimum remuneration for their work. When the rights of the people, especially the workers, are getting suppressed or taken away under neoliberal regimes like that of the Narendra Modi-led BJP government, it is important to remember this black day in Indian history.
