Two parts depict the behavior of both children, and two emphasize the behavior of the autistic child, Josie. The film focuses on the initial treatment of the syndrome.
In Part II, the program illustrates significant developments in the first year of treatment. Dr. Kamp, a psychiatrist (and Josie's therapist) begins treatment by trying to win Josie's confidence through the therapeutic use of touch.
