Myanmar state counsellor and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi left home on December 8, 2019, heading to the UN's International Criminal Court of Justice in The Hague. The nation’s de facto leader is expected to defend Myanmar against genocide charges related to its military crackdown on Rohingya Muslim minority people living in the northwest.
