Hong Kong police have warned violence is bringing the Chinese-ruled city to the brink of total breakdown after more street battles raged in several parts of the territory.
Srdja Popovic has spent years organising, studying and teaching political protests.
He co-founded the Serbian opposition group Otpor to help overthrow dictator Slobodan Milosevic and is the author of Blueprint for Revolution.
He told The World’s Beverley O'Connor the increasingly violent tone in Hong Kong risks discrediting the pro-democracy movement
