Canada’s Ecofiscal Commission’s final report, Bridging the Gap: Real Options for Meeting Canada’s 2030 GHG Target (ecofiscal.ca/RealOptions), assesses which policies can get us there at lowest cost. Policies explored are carbon pricing, regulations and subsidies, with some applying across the economy, and some only to industry. How high would the carbon price have to go? How stringent would regulations and subsidies have to be? And what would it all mean for the economy? We unpack the options and show which approaches make the most sense.
