Rosa's body is completely covered in hair. Coping with it can be tricky at times!
As a kid, Mom used to call Rosa "her hairy little bear". Indeed, her entire body was covered in light-colored fluff that made her skin very soft to the touch. But then, Rosa hit puberty and the fluff turned into coarse black hair within the span of a few weeks. When she came to her parents for consolation, Mom said: "Oh, my little bear cub is growing into a graceful and charming she-bear!" Dad laughed and responded with something vague about "warm cuddles for the he-bear". Rosa burst into tears at the prospect of spending her life as a hairy bear. She was 13 at the time so the innuendo flew over her head.
Rosa was blessed with a very attractive appearance though. She was well-built, with chiseled legs that accentuated her perfect body and face. All the boys at school were fascinated with her beauty. She was wallowing in their attention and adoration. Rosa was most comfortable during the cold season when she wore leggings and a long-sleeve shirt. Summers were a bit awkward though… Her parents insisted on a full health check-up, but after every doctor declared her medically fit, they put their own minds at ease and told Rosa she should just learn to live with her condition. Any weakness can be turned into strength, after all! This is the advice Rosa lives by.
Back in school, Rosa spent her summer breaks at her Grandma's country house. She picked a secluded spot in the garden to sunbathe. But the cat is always out of the bag somehow. On the very first day of her vacation, the boy next door invited Rosa to go swimming in the river. She took a rain check. On day two, he brought her a cute kitten as a gift and asked her out that evening. Again, she politely refused. Then one day, as Rosa was soaking in the sun, she could sense someone creeping through the tall grass. She let her hair down and combed it over her face to conceal it. Then, she stood upright and shouted for her stalker to come out of hiding and lie down next to her. He darted away though the underbrush so vigorously Rosa laughed. But when she was on her own, she burst out crying. Will she freak people out like this for the rest of her life? On that same evening, her suitor showed up with a bunch of cornflowers. His voice was trembling with emotion as he told Rosa how amazing and gorgeous and unique she was.
And this was the experience that gave Rosa the confidence she needed. He was just a country boy but he managed to make her see the bright side of her oddity. She never saw him again since he and his family moved elsewhere. But she's still grateful for what he did. Now, she couldn't care less about anyone else's opinion on her body hair.
After school, Rosa went to college in a different city so she had to live in the dorm. In order to set things straight from the get-go, she put on her pajamas in front of her roommates on day one. After she undressed, she watched the others discreetly. One of the girls missed her mouth with her cup of tea and spilled the hot tea over her legs. Rosa warned her against burns with a chuckle, and then she said loudly: "Look, I'm different from you guys. I'm not going to shave and neither am I going to hide myself. Did everyone have a good look? Great, I'm off to shower." If Rosa got defensive and launched into explanations how she had had a full medical check-up and stuff, she would surely be mocked or even bullied. But now, they just took her body hair for granted. The matter was settled. Even if some kind of a dumb incident happened, the whole dorm would laugh with her, not at her.
When Rosa's class went on a field trip, she met a guy from another college and they started dating. He actually fell in love with her at first sight after seeing her in a swimming suit! Rosa thinks a person's physical flaws should never stand in the way of their happiness. The key is to accept yourself, and with a healthy dose of self-deprecation, you won't even give people the opportunity to insult you.
