Matsutake! We are on the hunt for the Western White Matsutake in the Cascade Mountains, a similar species to the prized Japanese Matsutake. A gilled, white mushroom that is popular worldwide, fetches a high price at markets but also has toxic look alike species (which we cover in this video!). Follow along with us as we show you how to identify this mushroom and read the signs of the Washington, Oregon and Pacific Northwest forests in order to find it.
Whether you know it as the Pine Mushroom, the Matsutake or some other name—this sensational mushroom is unlike any other.
