The 1619 Project, launched by the new York times in August, aims to “reframe the country’s history, understanding 1619 as our true founding, and placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very center of the story we tell ourselves about who we are.”
The project has met with a lot of backlash.
On today’s episode, we discuss why many are questioning this project and whether there is a better way to address America’s history of slavery.
Today’s Guest:
Clifford Humphrey is a PhD candidate in politics at Hillsdale College. He wrote an article about the 1619 Project and its accompanying education curriculum.
