Excerpt: The Words Are In My Hear (1935), (1) Reverse and (2) Forward Motion How did choreographer Busby Berkeley get this jig saw of scattered pianos to come together so precisely? Simple: The film was reversed. Before reversing, pianos are were precisely aligned in a rectangle, then they fanned out in a scattered pattern. (You can see the legs of the piano movers under each piano.) When played in reverse, it appeared that the pianos, which were scattered, converged seamlessly into a perfect rectangle.
