50, 000 years prior, (before the events of The Moondust Trilogy), Sarafina, is Princess of The Star People, ethereal, stubborn and kind hearted. She falls in love with Jethro. The half Mortal child of the mysterious Celestials.
Which is forbidden.
David a sentient, psychic robot; from the planet Norcos is secretly in love with Sarafina. He warns her to stay away from Jethro. For she is a Star Maiden and he a Celestial. Those of Star heritage are noticeable (due to their ethereal glow and their Elixir of Life pendents) and vulnerable to the legendary Space Witches and other dark entities, that lurk in the shadows, when far from home.
While those of Celestials heritage, are somewhat invincible, they are prone to feel the pain of their soulmates. When Star People, Elves and Celestials meet their other halves, they immediately form a binding. Their souls become one. Whenever one half is in pain, the other half feels it 10x worse. And if the pain were to be severe, both could die. Otherwise, if one half were to die and the other lived, they would wander the universe for all eternity never to fall in love again. Or to avoid fading away, those of Star and Elven heritage could move into the mysterious realm of the Celestials, to ease the pain, of losing their soulmate.
Ignoring his warnings. She knows, what the consequences can be. Sarafina decides to run away, marries Jethro and they have a son named Skander. Completely forgetting; David even existed or heeding his warnings...
Life is blissful.
Some would say, even bitterly sweet...
Maybe too sweet?
Eventually David appears, enacts genocide, on the Star People's planet and makes it his mission, to destroy all forms of life. After Sarafina's mourning period. Jethro sends his wife and son away.
He goes to war with David but is swiftly knocked down. Becoming disfigured in the process. Feeling no remorse, David blankly watches, as numerous genocides breakout before him. Soon enough, the Celestials step in and banish David to deep space and turn Sarafina into a constellation for protecting her son (usually when a Star person dies; they turn into stardust and become a literal star. But if they've done something heroic, they are gifted a constellation.).
The Celestials wipe clean of any remnant of the previous atrocities committed. And once again disappear into the farthest reaches of deep space. Only to emerge, when need be.
As time goes by, Jethro wanders the universe and galaxy searching for his son, while mourning his beloved Sarafina and all simply become legends, merely to be forgotten in time.
