Boris Aides Pull the Plug on Pence Meeting After 'Chlorinated Chicken' Jokes

Boris Johnson’s aides appeared to pull the plug on his sit-down meeting with the US vice president at 10 Downing Street, after he made jokes about “chlorinated chicken”.

The UK Prime Minister told Mike Pence: "We're not too keen on that chlorinated chicken. We have a gigantic chlorinated chicken of our own here on the opposition benches".

Mr Johnson's barb was aimed at Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, who has refused to back calls for a general election until a bill to block a no-deal Brexit gains royal assent.

But after the prime minister made the joke, he suggested the meeting was being cut short. A camera light was turned off and Mr Johnson said: "I'm being asked to shut up".
