What I Eat to Brighten and Lighten Skin

What I Eat to Brighten and Lighten Skin Sharing with you guys some of my favourite food and beverage that will help lighten skin!

Food that helps to lighten skin:

GREEN TEA- A lot of studies have shown green tea demonstrating UV-protection ability against the sun when consumed internally and applied topically. This is due to the high antioxidant content which helps to neutralize free radical damage caused by UV radiation. It is deduced
that the melanogenesis inhibitory effect (prevention of melanin production in the body) of Catechins (EGCG) may be related to its abundant hydroxyl groups and its antioxidant activity. Green tea will only help with skin lightening WHEN CONSUMED REGULARLY AND IN LARGE AMOUNTS. It is recommended to consume at least 3 cups of green tea a day to gain the best result!

LEMON TEA- Lemon tea has a high Vitamin C and antioxidant profile and consumption of high Vitamin C food has proven to increase glutathione level in the body by 50%! Glutathione inhibits melanin (dark pigment) production which will help to lighten dark marks and brighten skin. I like to consume Lemon and Ginger tea after every meal because ginger will aid in better digestion of the body which will help with waste detoxification.

CHERRY TOMATOES- Cherry tomatoes is rich in lycopene and has naturally occurring glutathione which will provide anti-inflammatory action to your body as well as blocking excessive formation of dark pigments on the skin. Cherry tomatoes is also rich in Vitamin A, which helps with increasing cellular turnover of the skin to prevent dullness, resulting in bright revitalised skin!

WATERMELON- Similar to cherry tomatoes where it also contains glutathione and lycopene, watermelon is also very rich in Vitamins A & C and over 93% water content which helps hydrate and skin cells from within and lighten skin tone over time due to the abundant nutrients. Watermelon encourages the body's natural production of glutathione which encourages the body to produce less melanin, lightening the skin overall.

I am not a dermatologist but I am an inquisitive skincare enthusiast so everything that I've mentioned in the video is based my own research and knowledge gained from talking with skin specialists.

I am a firm believer that in order to have the best the skin, consistency in incorporating vitamin and antioxidant-enriched food in your diet is going to help boost the effectiveness of topical skincare treatments.
