Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino with Liverpool's goals gave the away side the lead but after Danny Ings' goal after closing down a careless kick from Adrian it gave Saints all to play for. Though a spirited last 20 minutes from Saints, it gave heart to the support, Saints ultimately defeated by the European Champions.
