In this video I briefly address some cool facts you might want to know about tadpoles and their development into frogs. It is not intended to be a comprehensive video as I did not have enough footage to cover every aspect of tadpole development. This Green Frog (Lithobates clamitans) tadpole is in the stage of its development where it is growing tiny legs. These legs will grow larger as the tail grows shorter, and the front legs will begin to form shortly after the back legs have developed. After all four legs have emerged the tadpole is called a froglet, and it will begin to start losing its tail and gills and preparing to leave the water that it spawned in. The tadpole to frog metamorphosis can take anywhere from 6 weeks to 8 months, depending on the species.
