Assess and Stretch Your Tight Lats (Latissimus Dorsi) In this video I show you how to assess your lats for tightness and 4 effective ways that you can stretch out your tight lats. The latissimus dorsi is a broad muscle which originates from our T7-L5 spinous processes, inferior angle of the scapula, posterior iliac crest, thoracolumbar fascia and the last 3 or 4 ribs and inserts into the front of the humerus. The primary action of this muscle is to extend, adduct and IR our shoulder.

A tight latissimus dorsi can lead to decreased shoulder ROM, especially OH and will lead to other shoulder problems in the future, therefore it is a necessary muscle to address.
