Today we are going to talk about the Gibson L6 Midnight Special which is the lowest-end, but least common to see member of the Gibson L6-S Family. The L5-S was introduced in 1972 as the highest-end Solid Body Gibson that was the solid version of the very popular L5 Archtop guitar. The L6-S is a stripped down version of the L5-S. The L6-S was introduced in 1973, but in 1974 a 2nd version called the L6-S Deluxe was birthed, so the original L6-S was renamed the L6-S Custom to avoid confusion. The Midnight Special was a Bolt-On Neck version that had most of the features of the L6-S Deluxe, but a few from the Custom as well. These are quirky Gibsons but I had a good time with this one!
