The Guard Jump can be a scary movie in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. Scary because it can lead to some gnarly injuries. In particular knee injuries. In this video our friend is worried about competing because of the risk of injury caused by Guard Jumping so to help him I've put together a few techniques to help him combat and avoid people jumping Guard in BJJ competitions.
One of the big points is to keep the hips back and hands forward. This still allows someone to pull Guard but will help make it more difficult to jump Guard.
I also share a belt grabbing technique if you can't keep the hips back. This is helpful if you find the person pressuring in.
Hope you enjoyed the video!
