Govt's Nationwide Facial Recognition System Has Serious Surveillance & Privacy Concerns

National Crime Records Bureau, which has not publishes statistics on crimes committed in India since 2016, has issued a Request for Proposal for a National Automated Facial Recognition System. It is aimed at modernising the police force but worldwide, has sparked serious privacy concerns of citizens and is prone to abuse by the state.
