For 12 days, Puerto Ricans took to the streets to demand Governor Ricardo Rosselló’s resignation, over a chat scandal that unveiled systemic corruption, and moral and ethical violations of his administration. These historic protests were peaceful and creative. Here’s what happened on July 22, a National Strike protest. Local musicians Plenéalo asked: “¿Dónde están los boricuas que defienden lo suyo?” / “Where are the Puerto Ricans that defend what’s theirs?”
Today, July 25th, 3.1 million Puerto Ricans shout: “Here we are.”
