Abstract, Representational, and so forth at GLADSTONE GALLERY

Abstract, Representational, and so forth at GLADSTONE GALLERY James Kalm, along with some insightful curators, like to change things up for the beginning of summer. Abstract, Representational, and so forth, at Gladstone Gallery is a charming indulgence that foregrounds ceramic practices, and particularly the glorious art of the glaze. This exhibition features some of the past and current greats, along with some newbies. It’s rare that a show of this nature is presented in such a prestigious venue at the beginning of summer, but this may be due to a recent trend focusing on craft, the cross over of significant artists into more decorative mediums, and a re-evaluation of historic and other-cultural art forms.
Some of the artists included are: Sarah Crowner, Magdalena Suarez Frimkess, Alteronce Gumby, Mary Heilmann, Andrew Lord, Rosemari Trockel, Betty Woodman, et al.
