2019-07-24 16:33:13 PDT - LETE juv gets fed by parent A juvenile (fledgling) Least Tern perched on rocky land gets fed a fish by its parent in flight. Location: mini-breakwater boulders adjoining the boat launch jetty at Cabrillo Beach, 33.71319°N,118.28287°W. Though more common at Bolsa Chica, it's quite unusual around here to see a Least Tern get fed on land; usually they alight onto a floating position on the water to get fed.

0:00.0 - the juvenile is waiting calmly for its parent to arrive with food.
0:10.4 - the parent calls while approaching; in response to this the juvenile starts begging loudly with a wide gape, and pacing around excitedly.
0:20.6 - the parent can be seen approaching.
0:21.4 - the handover of the fish takes place, and the juvenile starts gobbling it down.
0:21.7 - with the handover finished, the parent flies off.
0:34.7 - zoom-out to show context

I would recommend using 0.25× playback mode during the part where the juvenile gets fed.

Original footage is 4K 60fps with 3:2 aspect ratio (3504×2336). This was deshaken and cropped to 1440p (2560×1440) with a variable crop using an AVISynth script.

Filmed with a Panasonic Lumix DC-GH5 and Canon 100-400mm and Metabones EF-M43-BT2 adapter, handheld, using manual focus. Aperture was wide open (f/5.6). ISO 400, shutter speed 1/4000 s, manual white balance (sunlight, 5500 K). "Ex. Tele Conv." was enabled (at 3:2, this is a 1.47× digital crop). Physical focal length was 400 mm for most of the video, zooming out to 100 mm at the end (35mm equivalent: 1180 mm, zooming out to 295 mm).
