Time skips are a pretty common occurrence in anime. There are plenty of examples of kid heroes growing up later down the line or an anime’s epilogue showing the characters much older. Suffice to say, be it because of a time skip or just a good old fashioned flashback, anime is full of instances in which we see a character both as a kid or teen and as a young adult or an older adult.
Examples of this include Goku and Krillin in Dragon Ball, the Elric Brothers of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Naruto and Sasuke of Naruto and later Naruto Shippuden and the Digi Destined of Digimon Adventure. Seriously, anime is full of characters who we see age or who we see a flashback of, so the question arises, who looks better older and who looks better younger? We sift through characters like Joseph Joestar, Edward Elric, Gon Freecss and Izuku Midoriya to determine if they looked cooler older or if they looked worse than their younger selves.
