In a forest, there lived a covey of quails, who led a very happy and safe life because of their wise chief. In the nearby town was a hunter who came to know about them. One day as he was passing through the forest. After this, he started visiting the forest every day to catch the quails.
Once he had caught a few quails, he took them home, fed them well, and when they became healthy, sold them for a good price.
One day, the chief of the quails was also caught along with the others. The chief quail thought, “Oh what a misfortune! But I know how to escape. If I don’t eat well, I will look frail and weak. Then no one will buy me.”
Accordingly, when the hunter brought him home along with the other quails, the chief quail sat quietly, and when the hunter fed them all, it did not eat anything. Slowly, he became weak and thin. When the hunter took them all to the town to sell them, everyone ignored the chief of the quails, as he was not looking healthy.
