The additional 50 Taxi Units has finally arrived in Zamboanga City

Last 2018, the Asia’s Latin City Land Transport Service Cooperative (ALTSCOOP) planned to released 50 taxi units as their first launched on June 25, 2018, but accordingly, they started only 13 units due to the causing traffic situation, then after 3 months, they released additional 37 units until it released as their final launched or second launched on October 09, 2018, during before the celebration of Fiesta Pilar on 12th of October.
This 2019, they already released the additional 50 units, and one of chairman said, they need to launched for releasing the additional units to the public before month of August, and it will totally be 100 taxi units plying around Zamboanga to Zamboanga Peninsula Region IX.

Recalling Zamboanga was the first city in Mindanao served taxi in 1963, which was called Yellow Taxi or Apex Taxi, until 1970’s they operated a minicas since the motorized tricycles released in 1972 or 1975 and took over the market of the taxicabs. In 1995, or early 2000’s, Holiday Taxi the Davao based released to Zamboanga with 57 units since when the tricycles reached 6000 units. By 2008, taxi operation in the city had gone and unable to competed and tricycles are the new taxis in town.

From late 2000’s to early 2010’s, most of the visitors from other places are complaints if why Zamboanga as highly urbanized city there’s no taxi and it only depends to the tricycles and public utility jeepneys, not all drivers but some of them are very abusives like the fares is the same with taxi fares.

2018, after 10 years, Taxi is now bringing back to Asia’s Latin City which is presently “ALTSCOOP TAXI”.
