Assam is on high alert following intelligence reports that a "13-member action group" of the outlawed anti-talks faction of the United Liberation Front of Assam, Independent (ULFA-I), led by fugitive commander-in-chief Paresh Barua, is planning to launch an offensive in Guwahati and its neighbouring areas.
